IBC 2021 Section 1609 — Wind Loads

Updated Apr 17, 2026
Basic wind speed maps and load calculation method. ASCE 7-16 is referenced standard. Risk categories I–IV drive the base wind speed. Wind-borne debris regions require impact-rated glazing.

Flagstaff and Reno require cold-region considerations (snow + wind combo). Phoenix and Tucson use Risk Category II default wind speed 115 mph.
