California Title 24 Part 6 — Building Energy Efficiency Standards

Updated May 22, 2026
California state energy code applied to all new construction and most alterations. Stricter than ASHRAE 90.1 for envelope, lighting, HVAC commissioning, and ventilation. Updated every 3 years (2022, 2025...).

For CA projects, Title 24 governs over ASHRAE 90.1 where they differ. The equipment-schedule workflow flags CA jurisdictions and suggests a CF1R / CF2R compliance check pathway.
