Section 4001 requires electrical equipment be installed and maintained per NFPA 70 (NEC). Electrical systems must be grounded and properly protected from overload. Extension cords are temporary and cannot substitute for permanent wiring. Equipment must be maintained in safe condition with damaged cords and connections repaired.
