Requires ongoing inspection and maintenance of fire protection systems.

Section 5003 mandates that fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and other fire protection systems be maintained in functional condition. Monthly inspections of sprinkler systems check for obstructions and water supply pressures. Annual inspections of fire alarms verify detector operation. Emergency lighting batteries must be tested monthly. Maintenance records must be kept for inspection by authorities. Non-functional systems must be repaired or replaced immediately.
