IRC Section E3202 — Service Entrance Requirement

Establishes electrical service size, disconnect location, and accessibility requirements.

Section E3202 specifies that each building have a main electrical service entrance with a disconnect accessible to occupants. Service size (amps) must be adequate for the building load, typically 100-200 amps for residences. Main disconnect must be at accessible height (4-6 feet), typically inside the home. Clear working space 36 inches wide and 30 inches deep is required in front of the panel.
