IRC Section R303 — Clear Floor Space

Establishes minimum clearance dimensions in kitchens, bathrooms, and other spaces.

Section R303 requires adequate clear floor space in kitchens and bathrooms for safe operation and maintenance access. Kitchen clear floor space must permit door swing without obstruction. Walkways must be minimum 36 inches wide for single passage. Bathroom facilities must be accessible with appropriate clearance for wheelchair maneuvering.
