Subpart CC: Cranes and Derricks. 1926.1400: Scope — covers power-operated equipment that can hoist, lower, and horizontally move a suspended load. 1926.1402: Ground conditions — adequate to support equipment plus load. Firm, drained, graded. 1926.1404: Assembly/disassembly — competent person directs, manufacturer procedures or equally safe. 1926.1412: Inspections — shift inspection (visual/operational), monthly (documented), annual (thorough). 1926.1424: Work area control — barricade swing radius, restricted area under boom. 1926.1425: Keeping clear of energized power lines — min 20 ft from 50kV, 10 ft from <50kV. 1926.1426: Free fall prohibited except pile driving. 1926.1427: Operator certification — Type 1 or Type 2 by accredited testing organization. 1926.1428: Signal persons — qualified, clear hand/voice/radio signals per standard signals.
