PPE requirements for construction: hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, fall protection, respiratory.

Subpart E: PPE. 1926.95: Criteria — PPE provided at no cost to employees when hazards cannot be eliminated by engineering controls. Hazard assessment required (29 CFR 1926.95(d)). 1926.100: Head protection — hard hats per ANSI Z89.1. Type I (top impact) or Type II (top + lateral). Class E (20kV electrical), Class G (2.2kV), Class C (no electrical). Replace after impact or every 5 years. 1926.102: Eye and face protection — ANSI Z87.1. Safety glasses (side shields), goggles, face shields by hazard type. Shade numbers for welding. 1926.103: Respiratory — NIOSH-approved. Dust masks (N95) for nuisance dust, half-face with P100 cartridges for silica, full-face supplied air for confined space, SCBA for IDLH. Fit testing required. Medical evaluation before use. 1926.95(a): Employer PPE obligation — assess workplace, select proper PPE, train employees, maintain/replace. 1926.96: Foot protection — ASTM F2413, safety-toe rated, metatarsal guards when required. 1926.97: Electrical protective equipment — rubber insulating gloves, sleeves, blankets per ASTM D120.

GFCI protection required for all 120V 15/20A outlets on construction sites. Temporary wiring must be protected from damage. Extension cords must be 3-wire grounded. Electrocution is a Fatal Four hazard.
