Title 24 Part 6 — Marin Energy Standards

Updated May 18, 2026
CA Energy Code compliance for Marin: climate zone 3 (most of county), HERS verification, solar PV mandate for new SFR.

2022 California Energy Code (Title 24 Part 6) applies to all new construction in Marin County. Most of the county is climate zone 3 (mild marine); higher elevations (Mt. Tam corridor) trip to climate zone 4. New low-rise residential construction must include solar PV per section 110.10 sized to offset annual electrical use. HERS (Home Energy Rating System) field verification mandatory for envelope, HVAC, and water heating measures.
