Fire Sprinkler System Inspection

Updated Mar 26, 2026
Rough and final inspections for fire sprinkler installation: pressure test, head coverage, flow test.

Sprinkler inspections: ROUGH — piping installed before concealment. Inspector verifies: pipe sizing per NFPA 13 hydraulic calc, hanger spacing (12ft max for 1in+, per NFPA 13 Table 9.2.2.1), bracing per seismic requirements, proper head type (pendent, upright, sidewall) per approved plans, correct temperature rating (ordinary 155F, intermediate 200F, high 286F near heat sources), coverage per maximum spacing (standard spray 15x15 ft). Pressure test: 200 psi hydrostatic for 2 hours with no leakage. FINAL — after ceiling/wall closure. Inspector verifies: all heads installed, correct escutcheons, inspector's test valve functional, fire department connection (FDC) accessible, flow test confirms design demand, alarm activated by waterflow switch within 90 seconds. Record: NFPA 13 Contractor's Material and Test Certificate.
