Automatic sprinkler system required throughout buildings with a floor level having an occupant load of 30 or more that is located 55 feet or more above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access.

An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed throughout buildings that contain a floor level having an occupant load of 30 or more and located 55 feet or more above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access. This is a critical high-rise provision that applies regardless of occupancy type. For buildings over 120 feet, additional provisions in IBC 403 apply including emergency power, standby power, and fire command center requirements.
