1) Pre-delivery: verify truss design matches plans, check site access for crane + delivery truck. Prepare bearing points (walls plumb, plates level). 2) Delivery: store trusses upright on edge (never flat stack), protect from weather. 3) Setting: crane lifts trusses one at a time, workers guide into position on bearing walls. First truss braced plumb with temporary diagonal braces to ground. Set remaining at layout spacing (24 in o.c. typical). 4) Lateral bracing: continuous lateral brace (1x4 or 2x4) nailed to top chords at 8-10 ft intervals per BCSI (Building Component Safety Information). Diagonal bracing from ridge to bearing. 5) Permanent bracing: install per truss design drawings (web bracing, bottom chord bracing). 6) Sheathing: start at eave, stagger joints, H-clips at unsupported edges. Nail per structural plan. CRITICAL: no field modifications without engineer approval. Never cut, notch, or drill truss members.
