IBC Section 1102 — Common Use Circulation Paths

Requires accessible hallways and corridors connecting all accessible building areas.

Section 1102 specifies that all common use circulation paths (hallways used by occupants) be accessible. Corridor width must be adequate for two-way traffic, typically 48 inches. Surface must be firm and stable. Slope must not exceed 5 percent. Accessible routes must connect all accessible building areas including parking, entries, elevators, and restrooms.
