IBC Section 1211 — Fire Command Centers

Requires monitoring and control stations in high-rise buildings for emergency response.

Section 1211 requires fire command centers in high-rise buildings. Centers must be located on the ground floor or in the main lobby. Two-way voice communication connects occupants to emergency personnel. Fire alarm panels display the location of activated alarms. Sprinkler valve positions are displayed. Elevator controls permit firefighter override for rescue operations. Electrical systems must have backup power and be protected from fire.
