IRC Section E3303 — Wiring Installation

Establishes installation practices for electrical wiring in residential buildings.

Section E3303 specifies that wiring be properly supported and protected. Romex must be secured with staples within 12 inches of boxes and every 4.5 feet. Cable must not be pinched or damaged by other construction. Electrical connections in boxes must be properly secured. Loose wiring should be avoided. Splices outside of boxes are prohibited.
