Sequence: Concrete Pour → Cure → Strip Forms → Backfill

Updated Mar 25, 2026
Concrete placement to form stripping sequence with cure times, strength requirements, and hold points.

Phase 1 — POUR: Place concrete per ACI 304. Vibrate to consolidate (internal vibrator 1-3 in from forms, 12-18 in insertions). Maximum lift height 5 ft. Maximum free fall 5 ft. Temperature: min 50°F ambient for 72 hrs. Hot weather: ACI 305 precautions >90°F (ice in mix, curing compound). Cold weather: ACI 306 precautions <40°F (heated enclosure, insulated blankets). HOLD POINT: inspection before pour (reinforcement, forms, clearances). Phase 2 — CURE: Wet cure minimum 7 days (moist cure, ponding, burlap, curing compound). Minimum 70% design strength before loading. Phase 3 — STRIP: Minimum times (ACI 347): walls/columns 24 hrs, slabs/beams 7 days (or when 75% strength), cantilevers 14 days. Shore/re-shore multi-story. HOLD POINT: strength verification (cylinder breaks). Phase 4 — BACKFILL: Foundation walls — minimum 7 days before backfill unless braced. Compact fill in 8 in lifts. Waterproofing/drainage board before backfill.

🔗 Sequence
Foundation → Framing Sequence (Hold Point: Foundation Inspection)
Framing cannot begin until foundation inspection passes. Concrete must achieve minimum 75% design strength before loading. Foundation inspection is a hard hold point in every jurisdiction.
🔗 Sequence
Rough MEP → Insulation Sequence (Hold Point: Rough-In Inspection)
Insulation and drywall cannot begin until rough mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections pass. All three trades must complete rough-in and be inspected before walls can be closed.
🔗 Sequence
Drywall → Paint/Finishes Sequence
After drywall hung and taped: prime, texture, paint. Flooring after paint (or protect if before). Cabinets after drywall, before countertops. Trim/millwork after paint. Final clean before CO inspection.
